My first job as a translator was in the service of the Military Attach\u00e9 Office of the American Embassy, Helsinki, where I worked for 12 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During those years, I realised that I yearned for more freedom and diversity in my work. Furthermore, I absolutely hated getting up early in the morning to make it to the office by eight o\u2019clock. These were among the key reasons that motivated me to set up my own business, Tavestra, in 2004. I took a leap of faith without knowing whether I had what it takes to be an entrepreneur, but 20 years later I must say that I have never regretted my decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My dream of a larger variety of topics has also come true. I have had the opportunity to translate very diverse texts from various fields. My clients have included companies, associations, public sector actors and private individuals. I have also done subcontracting for larger translation agencies. The sectors have ranged from industry, trade and business to state administration, research centres, educational institutions, and many others. I enjoy reading \nwhat others have written and writing my own texts. Nothing has been published yet, but maybe one day\u2026\n\nI\u2019m an active member of the Finnish Association of Translators and Interpreters (SKTL) and Nordic Editors and Translators (NEaT).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My regular hobbies are walking, cycling and engaging in group exercise. I have also always enjoyed taking photographs. Another keen interest of mine is Ireland. It\u2019s been that way ever since I made my first trip there in 1999. I fell instantly in love with the Irish nature, seaside and people. Since then, I\u2019ve made regular trips to Ireland and participated in the activities of the Finnish\u2013Irish Society and various other events related to Ireland.
